According to a report, China and Australia will begin oil and gas drilling project on block AD-8, 59 miles southwest of Sittwe in Rakhine State, Myanmar.
China will drill an oil well in the AD-8 Rakhine block with the help of the Australian company Woodside, which is implementing the project.
The project is a joint venture between China International Oil and Australia’s Woodside. In this joint venture, Woodside and CNPCI have signed an agreement to drill blocks AD-6, AD-1 and AD-8, according to which each company will have a 50% stoke..
The project will start in the third quarter of 2020. Woodside estimates the joint project, located on the AD-8 oil block, 59 miles offshore town of Sittwe, will last until mid-2021.
In International partnership with Posco and, Myanmar Oil and Gas Company (MOGE), Phase Three of the project will be completed in the coast of Rakhine.
According to the company and the progress in wells drilling, more wells will be drilled with the approval of the government and the cooperation of partners until 2024.
